2020 Call for Board Nominations!
Summer is nearly upon us and we're close to halfway through 2019--believe it or not! And with that milestone, we begin our search for new IndySHRM Board members to fill open positions for the 2020-2021 term. We're seeking candidates for
  • VP of Membership
  • VP of Programs
  • Treasurer
  • Director of Sponsorship
  • Director of Communications
  • Director of Certification
Without dedicated volunteer leaders, IndySHRM would not be able to continue to advance the human resource profession and the capabilities of all human resource professionals in central Indiana.

Last year, we successfully revamped our election and onboarding process to allow for more time to acclimate new board members to their positions. This included ample opportunity for incoming leaders to interface with an outgoing board member in the same role before taking the reins in January.

I would encourage you to consider becoming involved and volunteering either on a committee or as a board member. Benefits of becoming a board member include:
  • Making an impact and assisting in the development of your chapter and the HR profession
  • Being recognized as a leader in the field of human resources
  • Developing and expanding your leadership skills
  • Earning Professional Development Credits (PDCs) towards SHRM recertification
  • Attending IndySHRM programs free of charge, as well as the chance to attend the HR Indiana Conference
  • Networking with talented professional peers

2018 SHRM Chapter Platinum Excel Award!

We're pleased to confirm that IndySHRM chapter has recently been awarded the 2018 Platinum Excel Award.  This SHRM award recognizes outstanding achievements in chapter operations and a commitment to providing meaningful programs and services to members. BUILD Series - Coming Fall 2019!

IndySHRM is pleased to announce that we'll be partnering with Butler University Executive Education once again this Fall to present the executive leadership development series, BUILD.

Earn up to 28 professional development credits for SHRM and HRCI certifications!

Taught by Butler University faculty and held on Butler’s beautiful campus, IndySHRM and Butler offer a high-quality, cutting-edge series of full-day courses to enhance your career and professional development.

IndySHRM Collegiate Scholarship
In an effort to encourage and support students pursuing a career in human resource management field, IndySHRM offers one annual scholarship in the amount of $1,250.

To be eligible you must be a sophomore, junior, or non-graduating senior in an undergraduate degree program. You must also be a member of the college or university student chapter, as well as be in good standing or be a professional member of IndySHRM. Applicants must have a 3.0-4.0 cumulative GPA and be enrolled for a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester.

SHRM Specialty Credential

SHRM specialty credentials allow HR professionals to demonstrate targeted competence in several key areas while enhancing credibility among peers and employers. There are now three specialty credentials available – California Employment Law, Talent Acquisition, and People Analytics.

Veterans at Work Certificate

The SHRM Veterans at Work Certificate program was developed for HR professionals, hiring managers and front-line supervisors to help participants learn the value that skilled veterans bring to the civilian workplace. You can earn 10 professional development credits toward SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP recertification through this program.

Now Accepting Applications – 4th annual Barnes & Thornburg/Ken Yerkes Scholarships for HR Professionals 

The HR Indiana Annual Conference announces the 4th annual Barnes & Thornburg/Ken Yerkes Scholarships.

These are needs-based scholarships that will be awarded by HR Indiana and Barnes & Thornburg. There are two scholarships that will be awarded:

SHRM/Jobs for America’s Graduates Announces Local Partnership!

IndySHRM has been selected as a pilot site to launch an exciting regional collaboration with Jobs for America’s graduates (JAG), a national program dedicated to preventing dropouts among young people experiencing barriers to graduation and/or employment. As part of a multi-state effort including 17 SHRM local chapters and state councils in seven locations, HR professionals across Central Indiana are being tapped to provide employability readiness resources that match the needs of students, to help prepare them for the workplace.

SHRM has a new benefit available for SHRM members. It’s called HR Resource Spotlight and it gathers many SHRM resources related to a specific topic and makes them available in one easy, convenient location. You can click on the topic that interests you and be directed to a page dedicated to topic-specific resources.

Accelerate Your HR Career - SHRM’s Competency Self-Assessment

SHRM has launched new member-only career resources can help fast-track your HR career development with easy-to-use tools that assess your HR skills and competencies and guide you toward further training and development. There are three (3) easy steps that will get you on your way to becoming the best HR professional you can be! First, Competency Self-Assessment, then Development Activity Wizard, and finally, Competency Development Plan.

NOTE: If you are a SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certified member, you will receive one (1) PDC per year for each calendar year you complete the Competency Self-Assessment. Use it to evaluate how best to target your professional development efforts toward the 60 PDCs required to maintain your SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP credential over your three (3) year recertification period.

Registration window is now open for the SHRM Certification Winter Testing Window Dec. 1, 2019 – Feb. 15, 2020

Not one of the 2,408 SHRM Certified (SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) individuals in Indiana yet? SHRM Certification (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP) exam applications are being accepted May 13 through Oct. 18 (or applicants can pay a $75 late application fee for applications received between Oct. 19 – Nov. 9) for the Dec.1, 2019 – Feb.15, 2020 testing window.

This is a great opportunity to learn how to make the most of the resources available to you and to clear up any areas of confusion. SHRM’s Recertification Counselors are here to help.

Track your recertification credits with the SHRM Certification App

With the certification app, available for iOS and Android devices, SHRM credential holders can search and filter recertification activities by competency, date or location; keep track of them; and enter the appropriate PDCs! The app automatically uploads the PDCs you’ve obtained from National SHRM conferences, SHRM eLearning, and SHRM seminars etc. into your profile. The app will also notify you when you are ready to apply for SHRM Recertification!

The email address in your SHRM Recertification Portal must match the email address in your National SHRM Membership account for it to link up.
