Be the Catalyst

This week I had the pleasure of participating in the inaugural session of BUILD - the leadership development series that IndySHRM is co-presenting with Butler Executive Education.

The topic of discussion for our first class was "Catalytic Leadership" led by Dr. Craig Caldwell. Catalysts are the people in your organization who have an oversized impact on their team even if they aren't superstar individual performers. They make the people around them better because they

  • are credible in their role,
  • create cohesion,
  • generate momentum, and
  • know how to amplify the impact of the group.

They may not score the most points or generate the most sales, but they are the rising tide that lifts all the boats in your organization's harbor. Today's competitive employment landscape demands that we recognize not just the rising stars, but also the catalysts that magnify the performance of the whole team.

As the generational make-up of our workforce continues to evolve, recognizing and rewarding your catalysts is a key to retaining talent and improving corporate performance. What behaviors do your organization's catalytic leaders exhibit, and have you recognized their contribution lately?

Still want in on the BUILD experience? Even if you missed our February session, we're still accepting individual session enrollment for our March 1, April 1, and May 1 sessions on the campus of Butler University.

You can find all the information about the BUILD Program, including single-session registration, HERE.

Upcoming BUILD Topics:

Building a High Performing Team - Friday, March 1st

Identifying and Communicating with Other Stakeholders - Friday, April 1st

Change Management - Friday, May 1st
