HRPDA Becomes IndySHRM North | Indianapolis

HRPDA to Become IndySHRM North

As the business world, the HR profession, SHRM, and our local Indianapolis market continue to change; we feel it is important to continually reassess our mission and how we can better serve HR professionals in the central Indiana area.

In the fall, we participated in a conversation with the HRPDA chapter on the north side of Indianapolis about their board’s desire for an opportunity that would allow them to create a partnership with a larger SHRM chapter. Over the past year the HRPDA board has been going through a strategic planning process to better align their chapter for the future. After much deliberation and diligence, the HRPDA board has decided to become a geographic emphasis area of IndySHRM. The HRPDA chapter will dissolve and become “IndySHRM North” (IndySHRM) effective January 1, 2017.

What does this mean?

  • HRPDA programs become IndySHRM North programs and will stick to their regular schedule on the second Wednesday of each month, from 7:30-9:30 a.m., at Indiana Wesleyan University.
  • Their programs will continue to cover a wide range of topics aligned with the SHRM BoCK.
  • The best practice sharing/ask an HR question portion of their meetings will continue.
  • Volunteers – We will need volunteers to assist with program planning, marketing, and membership for this geographic emphasis area.
  • All IndySHRM programs will be available to HRPDA members at the member rate, regardless of location.
  • For 2017, their members will NOT renew their membership with HRPDA, but instead will join or renew their membership with IndySHRM.

We are excited to embark on this partnership with HRPDA and welcome them as IndySHRM North! HRPDA representatives, Dennis Dunlap & Alona Bahler, will be leading this effort on behalf of HRPDA in 2017. More information will be communicated as details are finalized in the coming months. We look forward to offering this expanded IndySHRM programming opportunity and location.
