HR isn’t simple, and COVID-19 makes it more complex. We handle complicated people issues and are faced with multiple audiences with very short attention spans. In this fast-paced session, our speaker outlines HR communication issues on the horizon, and then share ways to get employee and new hire buy-in using updated communication methods. Most importantly, we will discuss “next step” methods for reaching a distributed workforce with Open Enrollment, including the distributed workforce that is emerging in many of our work lives.

We will

  • review fresh survey data from SHRM research
  • apply advanced communication methods from the world of marketing and sales
  • agree on advanced metrics to measure success or failure

Key takeaways

  • It is getting tougher to sell ideas. All audiences have higher anxiety levels, shorter attention spans, and are becoming very selective about the messages they will “hear”
  • A quick review of basic motivational theories provides the learning foundation. To break through the barriers, we review the theories behind personal motivation.
  • Adjust your message and use of technology to their style. Learn concise, practical skills that work with each population.
  • Consciously branding yourself is vital. The first point in getting others to see HR as credible is the development of a strong, positive brand.
  • Who are your clients? Recognize that individual departments have shifted. All of these points are illustrated with case studies and vignettes from modern business life.

BoCK Competencies Discussed:
People: Employee Engagement & Retention

Program is certified for 1.25 SHRM and HRCI credits.

Instructions on how to join the meeting are included in the confirmation email sent to you after registering.
