Join us for the IndySHRM Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Workshop.

Learn more about:

  • Why diversity, inclusion, and belonging matter: the business case and human case. This section will cover common ground key terms you need to know.
  • Privilege defined and misperceptions. This will include a privilege walk activity.
  • Layers of diversity: both visible and invisible. This includes differences around ability, race, gender, LGBTQIA.  We will discuss perceptions based on common knowledge, complete a stereotypes activity, discuss dimensions of difference, and focus on how to talk about it with end goal of more voices speaking up and increasing overall awareness

Speakers


Erin Brothers

Erin is Purple Ink’s Director of Recruiting and Consulting Services and a co-author of The JoyPowered™ Team. Erin’s top strength is Achiever and she truly enjoys working hard and gains energy by accomplishing more work. Every day starts at zero, and tackling projects big and small helps give that sense of accomplishment to benefit her clients, peers, family and friends.

Erin joined the team in 2017 as a Consultant. Before that, she was an HR Director in the professional motorsports industry and worked in the healthcare industry for ten years as a Program Director and HR Senior Recruiter.

Erin earned her bachelor’s degree from Butler University and an MPA from Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs with a focus on Human Resources. She has a certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution from IU School of Law. She is a SHRM-Certified Professional and a member of SHRM (Society of Human Resource Management) and IndySHRM. She was chosen as one of Indy’s Most Pivotal Leaders in 2019.

Erin is the Director of Diversity and Inclusion for IndySHRM, a Foster Success board member and Carmel Library Foundation board member, a Pass the Torch mentor, and Small Group Leader at College Park Church, where she is a member.

 

Julie Kratz

Julie Kratz is a highly-acclaimed leadership trainer who led teams and produced results in corporate America. After experiencing her own career “pivot point,” she developed a process for women leaders build winning plans. Promoting gender equality in the workplace, Julie is a frequent keynote speaker and executive coach. She holds an MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, is a Certified MasterCoach, and is a certified unconscious bias trainer. Her books include Pivot Point: How to Build a Winning Career Game Plan, ONE: How Male Allies Support Women for Gender Equality, and Lead Like an Ally: A Journey Through Corporate America with Strategies to Facilitate Inclusion. Derrin Slack

Derrin Slack is the Founder of ProAct Indy, an Indiana nonprofit organization committed to engaging youth in public service that educates, delights, and inspires the youth and those they serve. In this role, Mr. Slack acts as the senior representative for donors, volunteers, youth program participants and other stakeholders and is responsible for upholding their interests. In the purest interpretation of the organization's principles, the success of the organization is the sole interest of the youth and stakeholders. Mr. Slack is responsible for motivating youth and volunteers and executing on the management priorities at ProAct.

 

Mr. Slack is a full time officer whom takes a hands-on role in the organization's day-to-day management. In this role, Mr. Slack is responsible for establishing and cultivating strong business relationships with Corporate partners and Nonprofit thought and community leaders. His role includes identifying, developing and leading new community partnerships for ProAct. His strong background in nonprofit management and research, allows him to act as the conduit between the needs of the community and the capabilities of ProAct to address those needs.



Jeremy York

Jeremy has over 20 years' experience in human resource strategy and operations. Holding various HR leadership roles, he has worked with and advised all levels of management on critical business and people-related issues. These items include HR strategy, performance management, strategic planning, talent management and acquisition, leadership, and more.

Jeremy's expertise in defining and understanding the "big picture" enables him to translate business needs into tangible solutions. With his guidance, organizations have improved employee relations, increased performance, and developed cultures based on mutual trust and respect.

 

Ericka Young

Ericka Young is the president and founder of Tailor-Made Budgets which she opened in 2005 after she and her husband Chris climbed their way out of nearly $100,000 in debt. She became a certified financial coach by Dave Ramsey’s Lampo Group in 2006 and combines her passion for helping people with creative debt reduction techniques so everyone can have a path to financial freedom.  Ericka is a recognized financial expert who inspires people to significantly improve their finances, family and their future with a solid plan. Ericka’s Best-Selling book, “Naked and Unashamed: 10 Money Conversations Every Couple Must Have” was released online in February 2017 worldwide. She currently teaches her message of debt freedom through her e-newsletters, personal and group coaching, workshops and speaking engagements.  Ericka, Chris and their two daughters, Faith and Olivia reside in Fishers, IN.
