About the Blog Post Author: Brian is the current President of IndySHRM.  He is a graduate of Bradley University with a degree in Human Resources. He is the Global HR Operations Director at Eli Lilly and Company. Brian has served the board previously as Director of Special Interest Groups, served as Director of Sponsorships, and was founder and President of the Employment Management Association Recruiting & Retention Forum (now SMA Indiana). Brian also has served as an active volunteer for the Indiana SHRM state conference committee.

Dear IndySHRM Members,

We need you! IndySHRM’s annual election process has begun and we’re looking for great leaders to continue the advancement of our association. If you’ve always wanted to have the opportunity to further serve the organization by volunteering for a board position, now is the time!

The following board positions are open for election for the 2011-2012 term (2 year commitment):

• President

• President-Elect

• Vice President, Programs

• Director Legislative Affairs

• Director College and Community Relations

• Director Workforce Readiness

• Director Diversity

• Director Volunteer Management

If you are interested in being considered (or re-elected) for one of these positions, please complete the Board Leader form and submit along with a resume no later than September 13, 2010. The nominating committee of the Board (comprised of Past President, President, and President-Elect) will review all candidates, conduct interviews, and recommend a slate of officers to the Board. The membership will be notified of the slate by email and an electronic vote will be held in October.

Criteria for consideration:

• IndySHRM Member

• SHRM Member (or will join SHRM once elected)

• PHR/SPHR certification preferred

• Ability to attend monthly board meetings and monthly meetings/special programs

• Previous IndySHRM volunteer in some capacity preferred

• Ability to facilitate and lead a committee if position requires

• Ability to commit time to the position and the organization

• Strong leadership skills and self-starter
